What is CBG (Compressed Biogas)
India is the world’s second-largest sugar cane producer, with Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka emerging as key states in this sector. Given India’s strong agricultural background, the country has considerable potential for using agricultural byproducts and waste to generate electricity.
Compressed Biogas (CBG) is a blend of hydrocarbon gases and vapours that is mostly made up of gaseous methane, which is formed during the breakdown of plant and animal waste and is then compressed, cleaned, and used as fuel for automobiles and other industrial purposes.
Similar to how natural gas is compressed to create compressed natural gas (CNG), biogas can be compressed and used to power motor vehicles once carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide are removed.
Biogas Generation by RAJ Process
Raj Process is the Leading Compressed Biogas manufacturers in India. The RAJ reactors used for this purpose follow a Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) configuration, as evidenced by their operational dynamics.
These reactors perform best at mesophilic temperatures, which are moderate and ideal for the effective biogas generation process. This strategic alignment improves the system’s overall efficiency and performance, resulting in the successful conversion of organic waste into valuable biogas while remaining operationally robust.
RAJ Process uses Biomethanation, a technology that provides economic, social, and environmental benefits, has the potential to significantly assist India’s sugar industry and farmers. This method Utilized by RAJ Process involves anaerobic breakdown of organic materials, which produces biogas. This biogas is helpful because it may be used as a local fuel source for automobiles as well as to generate electrical, thermal energy and steam for distillery.
Why is biogas beneficial as an energy source
The biological matter that’s used to produce biogas will naturally decay anyway, so capturing the gases produced by this decay, and using them as an energy source, causes less harm to the environment than allowing them to escape into the atmosphere.
The process of producing biogas is also largely cyclical and fits into an overall sustainable cycle of managing agricultural waste. For example, animal waste produced on a farm can be used to produce biogas, which can then be used to fuel the farm machinery.
Biogas Purification Procedure
This cutting-edge Indian technology elevates biogas purity beyond 97% methane gas, adhering to government IS16087:2016 standards. The weather-resistant absorber columns efficiently eliminate H2S and CO2.
The interconnected up gradation sections designed by RAJ Process maintain uniform gas pressure via a central gas holder, backed by safety valves and sensors tied to a PLC for comprehensive safety. The process begins with raw biogas derived from digesters treating distillery waste/Napier grass/MSW/Agri waste and press mud.
An innovative biochemical method, including an aerobic reactor, absorber, and sulphur recovery unit, converts H2S-containing gases to elemental sulphur, Hence no effluent is generated. The resulting biogas, with reduced H2S, undergoes further refining through a low-pressure compressor unit. Real-time monitoring is facilitated by online analyzers, enhancing control, and accuracy.
The Process of CO2 removal
To remove CO2 from biogas, a packed column with soft water as a solvent is used, lowering CO2 to less than 4%. The RAJ method provides a closed-loop system that regenerates soft water while reducing chilling expenses.
Moisture is removed using a Dryer Unit. A two-vessel molecular sieve drier produces dry methane that is devoid of H2S, CO2, moisture and other unwanted contaminated gases. Biogas is routed through a 6-7 kg/cm² buffer tank with pressure control and PRV for closed-loop gas recycling before being compressed at high pressures.
Benefits of Choosing the leading Compressed biogas manufacturers in India:
Being the Leading compressed Biogas manufacturers in India, We Provides benefits such as its environmental sustainability. By utilizing organic waste materials for energy production, CBG helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and divert waste from landfills. In addition, using Compressed biogas as a fuel source can help reduce dependency on fossil fuels, thus contributing to a more sustainable energy future.
RAJ process has made various approaches pre-treatment of anaerobic digestion, due to which organic waste can be converted into high-quality CBG that can be used as a clean fuel for vehicles and other applications.
